CDMS Mentoring
With fifty years of experience, CDMS mentoring has seen success in multi-million dollar businesses, through to supporting individuals.
How It Started
In 1975, I found that I had a natural aptitude for listening and helping people (fellow school pupils mostly) with issues they were facing. At that time, I wanted to know more about people, why we say what we say, or do what we do. I have been learning ever since, over the last fifty years.
As a present-day mentor, I had never heard of the phrase until many years after starting to help people. I have worked with other mentors and taken note of many organisations that specialise in mentoring or life coaching. With working for names such as Manchester Airport, Kellogg's, Gwynedd County Council and the Welsh Assembly, for example, my experience is wide ranging. Case studies, as shown below, for organisations and individuals, give an idea of the depth of experience gained and available for mentee use.
How We Work
In the first instance, we would ask you to email us at the address provided. We usually ask for the minimum of information via email. We then require a phone discussion or video call in order to decide if we are a good fit for you and if we can support your required goal.
We then start a regular set of sessions, be it two, three or more. The aim is not to work towards a quick fix, but to help in finding exactly what you need.
Please have a look at www.cdms-ac.org for more of an insight about us.
Case Studies
Kellogg's is a multinational company that we all know. I was contracted to Kellogg's in Wales to help reduce turnover, support staff who were in need of goal guidance, and help improve productivity. This was achieved by a variety of residential and company-based sessions. We reached all our goals.
The Manchester Airport Runway 2 project team had a goal of making sure all went smoothly for the construction of the runway. My task was to use my skills to mediate between protesters and the project team. I listened and gave interpretations to each side in order to find solutions both could agree on. We reached our goals.
An individual was sent to me who believed her life was not worth living, and she was going to drop out of university. I used a technique sometimes thought of as a learning event. This individual managed to successfully rescue someone injured on a mountain. She brought the individual to safety. The injury was not real, but the mentee believed it was. Through further sessions and discussions, the mentee remained at university, gaining a 2:1 honours degree and believing in herself.
I have also been contracted by Gwynedd County Council to mentor many young men recently released from prison. In this case, the teams were involved in helping to plant trees for ecological reasons, having group discussions and individual sessions. These young men were re-entering society, and my task was to support their desire to be good members of society.
Why Choose Us
We are an independent mentoring service. We do not follow organisations that believe they know how we should behave or what we should say. However, we do follow the mentoring world and make sure we are up to date with current thinking. However, we believe you are an indivdual and need to be treated as such.
